Preinstalled Debian version? - tophneal - 07-25-2019

I'm curious, since there appear to be a few options, what version/iteration of Debian has been chosen as the default OS for the PBP?

Debian 9.9. A lot of custom work has gone into this image, so there really wasn't time to update it for Buster.

I'm guessing at some point Debian 10 will be available? Any ideas how long that would be? (1st batcher for PBP, I am no dev but willing to test if I can)

Thx

J

At some point. You can upgrade to Buster manually, but it will break a number of things. If you're interested in figuring out how to fix everything that the upgrade breaks - document it - and share it, then that would be great.

I will probably give that a go, I'm not a dev but if I really mess it up I can just reflash it to stock I guess?

On Luke's video it did show using video out but what OS was that?

on the github for Debian:

UNTESTED:
  • USB-C video output
  • Cameras from PINE64 store

It may have been another OS build..or do they need to update the github? Smile

I believe this is the version you are thinking of:

Last commit to that github repo was 5 months ago but there have been OS updates since then, is there a different repo we should be looking at?

Interesting.  Probably, because the repo only has the README.md, and not the changes from Rockchip's kernel and Debian 9.9 (stretch), etc.

The image file to download is in the releases:

Are there tested arm64 distros. For me arm64 (not armhf) is essential. If both arm64 and armhf are being treated as equals, this would be great for me.
