What connector type is this? - wahdooyah - 04-25-2016

I dug through my junk electronics bin and have found two LCD screens that I believe are fully functional and I was hoping might use DSI connectors. Sadly they don't, but they look very similar, just larger ribbons/connectors.

Can anyone identify this ribbon type, and is it possible to adapt this for the Pine64 somehow? Maybe with a converter or something? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if this is helpful, I can't make much sense of it, but it is the spec sheet for one of the screens: http://www.datasheetspdf.com/datasheet/A080SN01-V9.html

The schematic is here http://files.pine64.org/doc/Pine%20A64%20Schematic/a64-db-rev%20b-20151217-Plus-Release.pdf

The details on the screen for the Pine are at http://files.pine64.org/doc/datasheet/pine64/FY07024DI26A30-D_feiyang_LCD_panel.pdf

As I understand the interface is MIPI based.  http://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=26&highlight=LCD+screen+DVI

Please share anything else you find.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I'm not using the official screen, was planning to tinker with screens I ripped from dead electronics, so I posted a photo of a screen connector hoping someone could identify it so I can figure out if there's any way to mate these things.

According to the spec sheet, btw, it's a 60-pin connector, so I'm guessing I'd need some serious converter to go from that to the ... 21?... pin connector on the Pine64. I'll have to save it for another day, I guess.

Without knowing what the screen is you are trying to use, it is pretty futile to just say "here's a cable, tell me how to make it work"... It would be in your best interest to find the model of the screen you are trying to use, identify its requirements/specs and then once you provide those details maybe someone with more technical skills can either point out the steps required to make it work or, definitively tell you that it is hopeless...

Cables alone seldom reveal significant data for such statements.

I did include a link to the spec sheet and pinout for the screen, just below the photo.

Constructing a 60 to 21 pin converter would only be half the battle. The other half would be in writing the necessary software in order to get the Pine64 to recognise and utilise it as a usable screen.

Probably your best bet to use that screen with the pine is through a LCD adapter board SIMILAR TO KYV-N2 V1 LCD controller board and feeding the hdmi out of the pine into it. The problem there is the board has to accept 1080p @60 currently as thats the only output the pine has. I base the controller board pairing solely on seeing it paired with a similar model screen ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/8inch-AUO-A080SN01-V0-LCD-Screen-Panel-Module-VGA-AV-Controller-Board-800x600-/371412613290 ) and I cant promise that any of it will work. Just going by whats randomly out there. That board doesnt appear to have HDMI in so its a non starter but this should give you an idea what to look for if you have your heart set on that screen.

Thanks! Heart not set at all, just looking for a tinkering project. I'm sure I'll find one more feasible.

This is 4 lanes MiPi connector.

how does the dsi connector open? the connector itself is not as tall as the one on the raspberry pi so the connector movement seems limited. thanks.
