Keyboard Mysteries - jschall - 11-09-2018 New Pinebook 11.6``. 1 - Where are the apostrophe and the quotation mark? 2 - How can I adjust the screen brightness - is there a key combination? RE: Keyboard Mysteries - acruhl - 11-09-2018 Use fn+- for ' Use shift+fn+- for " Click on the battery level indicator on the bottom right, there is a brightness adjustment there. RE: Keyboard Mysteries - jschall - 11-10-2018 Thank you, acruhl. I see it now. RE: Keyboard Mysteries - fitter - 11-12-2018 I played with my pinebook a little bit. I need to say, the keyboard is pretty good. For example key response is much better than on my old Dell laptop, where keyboard feels kinda "gummy". Only that super small right shift sometimes annoys me But theres one thing I'm trying to figure out. How to access META key? Looks like its not physically present on keyboard RE: Keyboard Mysteries - Surehand53 - 11-12-2018 The key between Fn and Alt is the MENU key. The menu key can be quite practical to use the many auto-correct functions where you then would use the second mouse key or you could use the menu key. So far I have found two ways to get the META key. both can be found in the settings in: Input Devices -> Keyboard -> Advanced Tick "Configure keyboard options" 1. In "Caps Lock behavior" you can choose "Make Caps Lock and additional Super" This way you have both keys available. 2. In the "Alt/win key behavior" you can choose "Alt is mapped to right Win, Super to Menu. And then you could again map the Caps Lock to MENU in the other menu. RE: Keyboard Mysteries - eblot - 11-13-2018 Hi, I cannot find which keyboard layout should be chosen to enable the left-bottom most key (\ and |) to be properly mapped (default US layout leads to generate < and >). Using the function key to get these chars is not really handy. Thanks, Manu. You can use xmodmap to set the backslash key up properly # remap Pipe Key to Pipe xmodmap -e "keycode 94 = backslash bar backslash bar" Put that in your .bashrc to have it set for you the next time you log in. |
