Best USB3.0 to SATA bridge - mikedhoore - 09-28-2017 Hi, I'm working on a Rock64 NAS project, now I want to know which USB to SATA cable I can use best? Thx in advance RE: Best USB3.0 to SATA bridge - stuartiannaylor - 09-28-2017 (09-28-2017, 03:40 AM)mikedhoore Wrote: Hi, JMicron JMS578 think is getting best approval but to be honest USB to Sata is stinky especially with multiple file transfers. If your going to use a singular drive give it a test on multiple file access. Then multiple disk... mweh. I have sort of given up on USB for what I would call traditional multidisk NAS RE: Best USB3.0 to SATA bridge - mikedhoore - 09-28-2017 (09-28-2017, 07:49 AM)stuartiannaylor Wrote:(09-28-2017, 03:40 AM)mikedhoore Wrote: Hi, thx i'm looking for a model that can be used on a 3TB WD red (3.5") I found this one : EBAY LINK But i don't really need the enclosure. ? Linux 4.4 doesn't do USB3.1 it was either 4.6 or 4.9 (forgot which). USB 3.0 I would go for JMicron JMS578 with the ASM1153E a close 2nd. The newer ones maybe even better but there are less reviews with the ASM1351 and VIA’s VL716. https://www.asmedia.com.tw/eng/e_show_products.php?item=133&cate_index=97 ASM1153E (I think that might be UAS blacklisted) https://www.jmicron.com/product0201.html JMS578 https://www.asmedia.com.tw/eng/e_show_products.php?cate_index=97&item=156 ASM1351 https://www.via-labs.com/product_show.php?id=68 VIA’s VL716 Have a browse of the Armbian and OMV forums and ask a question. https://www.openmediavault.org/ https://www.armbian.com/ Just get an adapter from ebay or amazon do a bit of reserach so you know the chipset. Just grab any hardrive and see what you get for a single transfer and then queue up some simultaneous transfers and see how much you lose. RE: Best USB3.0 to SATA bridge - mikedhoore - 10-02-2017 Hii, I only can find docking stations on Ebay with the JMS578. I cannot find a simple USB cable to SATA with 12V ?? Anyone a link ? (non of the links from stuartiannaylor works) RE: Best USB3.0 to SATA bridge - stuartiannaylor - 10-02-2017 (10-02-2017, 06:17 AM)mikedhoore Wrote: Hii, Amazon just search for usb+3.0+sata+iii+12v "copy and paste that" Same on ebay. PS weird about those links on differing sites as they did work. Its like the chip manufactures apart from via are stopping access. Inateck USB 3.0 to SATA III Hard Drive Adapter Orico USB 3.0 to SATA III Hard Drive Adapter Seem to be pretty good and much cheaper than the startech ones.
