spdif - Raul1 - 09-13-2017

Hello everyone,

I just ordered a rock64 and I want to use the spdif port for audio out. As I have no need for the DAC or the 2nd eth port I don't want to use the DAC board.
Can I wire an fiber optic transmitter (like TOTX147) directly or do I need some buffer/driver like the inverters used
on the DAC board?

Thanks!

Just tried it and can confirm it's working without a buffer. I took a TOTX147 (cheap on ebay) and connected GND, +3,3V and SPDIF signal + 100nF between GND and 3,3V.

With 4.4.77-rockchip-ayufan-118 spdif audio out is working on hw:2,0 with 16bit and 44,1kHz, 48kHz and 96kHz. No luck with 24bit or dts/ac3 so far.
