Waterproof Case question(s) - johnvan - 02-17-2016

Hi.  Does the aluminum case have room for the battery and touch screen as well, or does it just hold the board?

Also, are there any specs for the waterproof case's dimensions, especially in terms of weight?  I didn't see any in the backerit store.

I'm a writer/photographer that does a lot of work in wilderness locations.  Excited to get this and see what I can do with it in the Yukon this summer!

Thanks to the Pine team...and please try to ignore the haters!  This is literally the best kickstarter project I've seen in terms of notifications, flexibility and overall professionalism.

cheers,
johnvan

This is an outdoor type of case for data collection. It only hold the board and possible battery, and not suitable for touch screen. We will put more info at Wiki page on this week.
Thanks on your encouragement.

Please Provide information on the geometric dimensions (internal and external) of the waterproof case. What size (width, length, height) of the battery fit into the waterproof case with Pine64 (2GB RAM)?

Sorry if this is already on the Wiki (I searched for "waterproof" and "enclosure" and no hits). Does the case block wifi? Just received my board today. Got to go get another sd card, but looking forward to seeing how this compares to my Raspberry PI B+/2/3/0 and the BeagleBone Black Smile

The Aluminum case will block Wifi. You need to have the external Wifi Antenna to get it works.

Ah, OK. Figured as much. I think I'll get another enclosure for now then. Thanks!

Don't give up, with a little bit of work the weatherproof case works fine.

Thanks! You guys did all the hard work by finding the right combination of pieces, I had to source a few specialized components to finish this demo but the majority of them were there to pick from.  I don't think some people in the forum appreciate how time consuming and tedious it can be to collect the components and build the offering the Pine64 team has put together.

I'll be happy to see some more dev time spent on the distros and getting the kinks worked out of the various OS.  The rooted version of Android we are using is still a bit buggy and very, very slow for some reason.
