Maximum MIPI-DSI resolution - smartlight - 11-12-2016 What is the correct value of the maximium MIPI-DSI display resolution for Allwinner A64 SoC and I quess same for PINE64+? In the Allwinner A64 SoC User Manual V1.0 (Official Release Version) on page 497 it states 1366x768@60fps. While in almost all other places it states 1920x1080@60fps. Did smbd manage to light up the 1920x1080 MIPI-DSI 24bpp color display on PINE64+ as advertised? And does it support the 24 bpp color depth or some decreased depth at maximum resolution? The question is only about MIPI-DSI and not about other possible display interfaces (HDMI, LVDS, bridges and etc). I'd say you answered your own question. No, I didn't. Please, read my question carefully. 1366x768 in Allwinner A64 SoC User Manual V1.0 (Official Release Version) could be a typo. For ex. in the SoC manufacture datasheet: Allwinner A64 SoC Data Sheet V1.1 (Official Released Version) it states 1920x1200@60fps on the 10th page. So the question remains what are the correct figures and did someone managed to connect MIPI-DSI Full HD (1920x1080 or 1920x1200) display? Ok, so you managed point out an inconsistency in the doc ( congratulations, that's a given ). We are lucky to have the doc we have, and that doc is all we have; unfortunately. There is no one to straighten out the inconsistency either; since we have no contact directly with the persons responsible for the doc, and considering that they all speak Chinese and most of us do not. Also, there is only one DSI display that works with the Pine64, so um, no, I doubt that anyone has connected other displays and other resolutions to the DSI port of the Pine64; we have only recently made that display work with the gnu+linux distros supported, which was a relief. The posted resolution of the LCD panel is 1024 x3(rgb) x600. There are many questions that remain in the doc ( I repeat many ). What now is left to us as a community is experimentation and reverse engineering; but, don't expect magic answers, or hidden expertise. Having said that, I may actually be shocked to find out that someone has indeed firgured this out ( power to them ). You might try ayufan's Android 7 and see what resolutions are available in the settings for the LCD when you do that; unfortunately, I am unable at the moment to experiment with that because my LCD is disconnected while I am experimenting with my hdmi playdesk. As far as which of the two docs is correct; who knows. The datasheet has the later date June or July of 2015. The User Manual has an earlier date Mar of 2015. The datasheet may be more accurate and the user manual may be confused. There is a difference between LVDS and DSI. The LVDS is limited to 1366x768; the DSI is probably able to do 1920x1200. BUT this is a big fat guess ! A 'WAG' as we used to call them at IBM. The wiki ( created by tllim ) says this about the DSI port:
