SD Card Sizes - tpitman - 10-21-2016

I didn't know which group to post this in. I figured since you plugin a SD Card this would be the closest.

I bought a 64GB SD Card directly from pine. I was able to flash the 64GB android image for touch screen onto the card.

I then bought a name brand Sandisk SD Card from Newegg. I was not able to flash the 64GB android hdmi image on that card because it said it was too small.

I then found out that Newegg sells things from outside vendors, so I thought maybe I was a victim of a scam card. It says it has 58GB of space on it.

I then went to Costco and purchased a 32GB SD card from Sandisk thinking that Costco items should be legit, right?

I downloaded the 32GB android image for hdmi and when I tried to flash that image was told again that there wasn't enough room on the card.

I am using a Mac with El Capitan.

I am using the Etcher app recommended on the Pine64 wiki. That app worked fine on the Pine64 card I bought direct. It just doesn't work on any other SD Card or image that I have tried.

Can someone tell me what is going on?

SD cards vary.

... the problem is with the Android build folks; this is a known problem, and they're working on it. I would recommand ayufan's Android 7 build... will be fine.

Also we recommend Samsung evo plus Class 10 cards ( of whatever size )

Thanks for the information.

We will make the next Android build slightly smaller so that able to fits for majority of microSD card size.

Hi,

I'm trying to get my LCD touch panel from my Kickstarter premium working on my pine64, so I need to burn the Android image that supports the panel

I tried the to burn the 64GB image for the Android 5.1.1 Image (LCD Panel Video Output) Release 20160603 on a 64GB Samsung Evo+ using Etcher. Etcher said the image would not fit, the card was to small. Windows shows a capacity of 59.5 GB () (63,988,301,824 bytes). The 32GB image would burn, and the panel works, but I'm giving up approximately half of the space on the card.

My Kickstarter bundle included a 16GB card with Android for HDMI already installed, that boot the pine64, but when I tried to burn the 16GB image supporting the LCD, Etcher say the card is to small. (Can't read the capacity as Windows says it needs to be formatted)

Is this going to be fixed? Or can you recommend a 64GB card that can hold the image?

Thanks!

As Mark states a few posts above, this is a known issue with the 20160603 Android image. You should try ayufan's Android 6.0 or Android 7.0 image. These images resize to fit the available space on the card. Instructions for using the LCD screen are included in the initial post of each thread.

Give that a whirl.

I just release Android ver 6.0.1 Image for LCD panel yesterday, please try out.
