android image & sd card size problems - tomarneson - 10-12-2016

I ran into the same problem that others reported. I bought a Sandisk 32 GP microSD card, ran the H2testw program to check for errors.

test of microSD card
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 19.8 MByte/s
Reading speed: 78.2 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4

deleted the *.h2w files.

Windows explorer reports 131,027 bytes used space and 31,902,400,512 bytes free space. Win32diskmager.exe says there is not enough space for the file: android-ver5.1.1-20160711-pine64-32GB.img

Question: should I try with the image for a 16 GB card?

I did put the image for a 16GB card on a 32GB card.It seems to work OK. I'm writting this post from the Pine.

were you able to recover the extra space on the sd so the system could use it?

I didn't yet do anything to recover space on the sd. Android settings shows 12 GB on the card with 10 GB free.

Hi!
I met the same issue with a 16GB image and a 16GB SD card.
The Android LCD version 16GB Image does not fit to 16 GB SanDisk Extreme card, screenshot attached here.  Confused
BTW, Ubuntu Mate 16GB image fits to this card without issues.
I'm using SanDisk Extreme mostly since they are most fast cards on the market but quite humane price at the same time. I have also 8GB SanDisk card and Android LCD version 8GB Image fits to it, fortunately.
Anyways, it isn't good for me to have just 8GB of space, since I can't add extra flash card to  system without using USB. Same for many people, I guess.
So, please, could anybody crop the 16/32GB images on the Pine's WiKi?

I would recommend using AYUFAN's Android 6.0. it will fill your SD card to max capacity on first boot.

Dump the Pine releases, they never update, use Android 7.0 with Win32DiskImager. It takes LONG time the first time, just leave the room for 15 minutes, since it is resizing the partition automatically, I have used it on a 16 GB card, a couple of 64 GB cards and even a 200 GB card.

It takes 15 minutes to boot, because it does dexing of system-apps. This is CPU intensive process. The disk resizing takes about 3 seconds to finish.

Hi - new to this- I was told that the LCD option requires android 5.1 scpecifically for the lCD resolution support.  Do you know if others have successfully used newer versions of android with the LCD?  Thanks for your time.

Ayufan's images for android 6 and 7 works just fine with the LCD touch screen aswell, you just have to enable it in uEnv.txt uncomment the pine64_lcd=on.
