3,5mm audio out not working - MikkoL - 09-28-2016

Hello,

I don't seem to be getting audio from 3,5mm jack working. I have tried ayufan's Android 5.1 and 7.0 builds (TV and no TV), to no luck whatsoever. Also tried plugging the jack only after a reboot, but still nothing. Sound comes only through HDMI.

Can anybody help? Or confirm that it really doesn't work? From what I read, this has been an issue before, but some reports at least from the Linux side are saying it shold work.

Mikko

Interesting. I tested Audio jack and it worked.

Can you show you ADB logs?

My audio jack is also working. Can you try a different headset/plug please.

As the detection is done by an electrical connection being made from the headphone plug.

On page 8 of 19 ( schematic ) the audio plug is a four connector plug < L, R, Grnd, Mic ]] ;  Samsung earbuds work well ( with the in-line mic pick-up );  there are others that will work as well as long as they are standard sterioe buds with monoral mic puckup.

Make sure the plug is the standard four connector plug and that it is fully seated.

Tried a couple different cords that work with my Minix X8H+ ... no sound, just static humming.
Got things finally working with the SoundAbout app by forcing audio routing to wired headset.

I had to use the SoundAbout on mine as well. Occasionally I can unplug and replug in the 3.5mm jack and get it to realize it's there but that is not consistent. I'm not sure if it is the switch/sensor in the 3.5mm jack that doesn't know to check for state when started or refreshed or if it is a software issue that it is setting default for audio to another point (my guess is the gpio) as standard audio on cell phones doesn't go to the 3.5 jack unless something is plugged into them. Atleast there is a easy work around at the moment for android.

I'm running the Debian Stretch OS and cannot get the audio from the headphone jack. It works fine through the HDMI in my television. Numerous attempts with external speakers and earbuds proves fruitless. Since there is no onboard BT, I need to hook up external speakers when using a monitor.  I was looking for the selector present on my RPi3 changing from input sources.
Writing this with audio playing thru TV.
Help???

Perhaps it's not the good place because i use a Rock64 sbc, but as i had the same issue, i searched for a solution and found these useful links:
