Solution to awkward playbox cabling - Visionrx7 - 09-12-2016

So after waiting something like 6 months for the playbox enclosure to arrive, I am extremely disappointed.  Has anyone found a good solution to using this while plugged into power, ethernet, and hdmi? As it is now, this thing has to lay flat on its back to be used, thanks to power, etc, coming from the bottom of the enclosure. Who wants to hover overtop of the device to use it?! Not to mention no Linux support for the 7" touchscreen (NEVER MENTIONED WHEN BACKING THIS), which is the reason why I backed the Pine in the first place... I would have just bought an Android tablet if thats what I really wanted. I guess I could build a ghetto stand for it... it just seems not very well thought out that I need to now make some sort of stand just to use it while plugged in.  Thoughts?

hi, this is my photo journal on this forum documenting how I built the cardboard and duct tape playbox.

Read through the thread...  I documented with many pics throughout...

Yea, I built my own case while waiting for the playbox to arrive also out of a takeout food container... it was very incognito. The screen mounted to the top side of it even allowing the lid to be attached to the container. The Pine was mounted in a way that I could sit the case up and still use it while plugged in having all the power and data cables on the sides. The playbox is literally useless without moving the power, hdmi, and Ethernet to the side instead of the bottom... not to mention the horrible internal cable routing... the way the TS connector has to curve and bend isn't very thoughtout. Plus not being able to swap SD cards without taking the case apart. The cheesey snap together housing will break after removing the back panel a few times to access the SD. Looks like I will be hacking up the playbox to be usefull. Major letdown.. the case looks beautiful, but isn't useful until the Pine is mounted another way inside and ports are extended to the sides. ?
