Prohibit Pinecil from going nuclear - snorkel - 03-12-2026 Got my Pinecil some weeks ago. Fixed me a DC plug so I could run 24V. It works just fine! Most of the time... Then and again it goes into nuclear mode, I see it tries to run 450C or something like it. After that the tip is toast. Now, tips are'nt directly cheap and I consider this to be a manufacturing problem. But you all know the drill.. What I want to know, does anybody else have this problem? I saw some weird setting regarding high temperature, nothing I could turn off as far as I understodd. Please help, before I run out of tips.. /Snorkel RE: Prohibit Pinecil from going nuclear - snorkel - 03-12-2026 Apparently that's Boost Mode.. Anyways, I see two options. Either * disable it altogether - via a setting * specify a temperature which safely can be used on the tips. The latter I can fix myself - by removing it entirely from the firmware - doin' it now. The first - well does anybody know the max temp for the tips? RE: Prohibit Pinecil from going nuclear - snorkel - 03-13-2026 (03-12-2026, 08:02 AM)snorkel Wrote: Apparently that's Boost Mode.. Ok. Digged some more. Apparently its possible to set Boost Mode to 10C. I did that, and tested trying to trigger it and the tip didnt get warmer. Nice! But then .. Left the device on at 320C och from time to time it hickups and write 450C in the display. I believe there is something wrong in the regulating function. |
