Rockchip gets DMCA'ed on media acceleration - biketool - 01-05-2026 Looks like this has been going on for a while, takingffmpeg components as their own and then releasing on an incompatible Apache license. This is gonna burn PPpro and Pinetab users I think, guess we will wait and see. https://github.com/rockchip-linux/mpp looks like the other repos are up and only media acceleration is DCMA'ed. https://hackaday.com/2026/01/05/github-disables-rockchips-linux-mpp-repository-after-dmca-request/ though someone could just fork and re-license correctly I think... RE: Rockchip gets DMCA'ed on media acceleration - Kevin Kofler - 01-09-2026 If you need the code, there are mirrors of that repository. (I am not going to link to them.) (I am not going to link to them.) yea, rockchip has a mirror git on their website. RE: Rockchip gets DMCA'ed on media acceleration - hanmira - 02-04-2026 Yeah, that lines up with what I’ve seen too. Rockchip does keep a mirror of the code on their site, so at least it’s not completely gone if someone needs to dig into it. Still a messy situation overall, especially with the licensing angle. |
