Does PinePhone support long-term battery health optimization? - roseblack - 09-30-2025 Hi everyone, I’m curious if the PinePhone has (or will have) any built-in feature or community tool to help optimize long-term battery health, like charging limits (e.g., stopping at 80%) or adaptive charging. I know some laptops and modern smartphones have this option, and it really helps prolong battery life. Has anyone experimented with something similar on the PinePhone, or is it more a matter of manually managing charging? What distro are you currently using on yours? I’m currently running Mobian on my PinePhone. Do you know if any existing tools or settings in Mobian (or similar distros) can help manage charging behavior, or would this require a custom script/kernel tweak? I'm afraid I don't but if you're happy with Mobian have you tried asking on their forum? Pine64 purely focus on the hardware side of things. I’ll check over on the Mobian forums and see if anyone’s tackled this already. RE: Does PinePhone support long-term battery health optimization? - Kevin Kofler - 10-06-2025 This is pretty pointless. The battery lasts longer than the PinePhone hardware itself and is also easily swappable. And if you charge it only to 80%, you will not last long with the charge, even 100% is not always enough for the day and I end up needing a power bank (and that was no different when the battery was new). |
