Pinephone pro ee bricked? - dennylee - 07-21-2025

Hello,
I made a mistake and accidentally erased the SPI flash in the Tow Boot menu on my PinePhone Pro EE. I had Kali NetHunter Pro flashed to an SD card and to the eMMC, and everything was working fine until yesterday when I mistakenly hit "Erase SPI Flash" instead of "Power Off." After erasing it, I was able to boot into my eMMC Kali one last time before powering off. However, since then, the phone has shown no signs of life, except when I connect it to my PC, where it appears as an unknown device instead of being recognized as a PinePhone Pro like it used to. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

sounds easy this time. re-install spi flash, spare sdcard is needed though.

you probably want:

https://github.com/Tow-Boot/Tow-Boot/releases/download/release-2023.07-007.pine64-pinetabA64/pine64-pinephonePro-2023.07-007.tar.xz

there is installer image inside, boot that and you have options.

Why the heck does Kali Nethunter Pro even have an "Erase SPI Flash" menu entry? Erasing it is basically never what you want, overwriting it with a different bootloader usually is. And why the heck does that destructive action not even ask for confirmation?

Since it's for "pen testing", maybe it's to intentionally brick your phone when the cops blue team are about to grab the infiltration squad?
