How to improve KDE plasma ? - louson - 05-07-2025 I find KDE plasma quite slow. I've tried XFCE and got a much smoother experience. Unfortunately it requires a lot of work to get a comfy environment. It's my first experience on KDE and I have not found similar posts on the forum (sorry if it does). So here is a thread to share tips how to improve the KDE plasma experience, what service can be disabled / removed ? Shall I disable accessibility, kde connect and so on ? (how ?) RE: How to improve KDE plasma ? - KC9UDX - 05-08-2025 Well, I can't speak for the PineTab. But otherwise how I usually speed up KDE is by 1) starting it as a "failsafe" session 2) turning off desktop effects 3) killing akonadi (this gives mixed results. Sometimes huge, sometimes nothing.) 4) turning off strigi (if it's even there) RE: How to improve KDE plasma ? - Kevin Kofler - 05-08-2025 Strigi is long dead. Baloo is what KDE uses for indexing now. |
