CSI / Camera Module Compatibility? - vade - 01-24-2016

Hello

I am curious if the CSI lanes on the Pine64 are compatible with existing Raspberry Pi CSI inputs like their camera, the NOIR camera, and other inputs like Auvidea's HDMI Input via CSI.

Thank you.

I don't think RPi camera module can work on Pine A64 board and vice versa. The CSI in Pine A64 is parallel type and Rpi is serial type.

Oh that is a great shame. There are some really interesting CSI based input devices from Auvidea which allow one to capture uncompressed HDMI over RPI CSI camera input, allowing the camera to be an uncompressed video input device.

Cannot do much about this, this design "lock" into SoC capability. If able to make them compatible, I have already done so.

Well theoretically Auvidea and Pine64 foundation (?) could work together to ensure a model is compatible. These type of peripherals are really important for multimedia work.

Thank you for the replies!

We welcome to work with Auvidea if they have interest to work with us.

hi all, I got a csi camera,YL-PINE64-4EC.
I can't get the detail information,do you know the  info?
And how do use it on  Ubuntu 16.04 by loogsleep.
May be I need dts and c file.

thank you very much.

Without a adapter the CSI slot on the Pine64 is to small for a standard Raspberry Pi CSI Camera.
I had a broken Sony camera from which the camera sensor still worked. its connector was to small for my Raspberry pi 3b+.
on my pine a64+ it fits perfectly in the CSI slot.
I haven't tested jet if it works in there but if it does than I have a 20.1mp webcam or AI cam on my pine.
However First I need to redo my setup due to a slow microsd
