MMS sending stopped working - amindfv - 01-13-2023 I've been mostly-happily using the PinePhone with Mobian for a long while (years), with MMS working pretty smoothly for a long time. Recently (last 5 days or so), MMS sending has completely stopped working. - It didn't happen after making any big software change (apt upgrade, settings change, things like that). - Group message sending and 1-on-1 media sending no longer works - Group and media receiving still works totally fine - Back when MMS sending was working, I noticed that after hitting "send" on an MMS message, the screen brightness would always change for a moment (something to do with power draw to the antenna?). Now when I try to send MMS that doesn't happen. Any idea what the problem could be? I am quite sure that because of some carrier changes kop316 need to do some changes (not affecting to me so can't confirm and this comes from my memory so might be wrong). What you can do is try to upgrade and see what happens? MMS is complicated and the biggest problem is almost always your carrier (not your own OS or mmsd-tng) Best place for mms questions is matrix room #opensourcemms:matrix, org RE: MMS sending stopped working - treebeard - 01-16-2023 There was a recent update to mmsd-tng (v2.1.0) to fix a problem that came up with T-Mobile. RE: MMS sending stopped working - splatdreary - 04-28-2025 It could be a modem or carrier-side issue, especially since you didn’t change anything on your phone. Try rebooting the modem (mmcli -m 0 --reset) or reseating the SIM card; if that doesn’t help, check APN settings for MMS or contact your carrier. RE: MMS sending stopped working - biketool - 04-29-2025 Probably not important but in Mobian the MMS settings has a place for the modem's phone number, what is this all about? I have never seen anything in another mobile running Maemo, android, or v60 having this entry. It is because otherwise Chatty does not know what is your own phone number (or I am not sure does it know today but that is the reason why the field was added to the settings page) And why that is important? Because before Chatty might add your number to mms conversations as receiver also - so when you sent message you will also receive it and it did generate huge mess where you might have 6 different "rooms" for one contact because of different mms issues. Hopefully I explained it good enough xD RE: MMS sending stopped working - anonymous - 05-04-2025 You're lucky. I succeeded in sending one MMS some years ago and it has never worked after for me ![]() RE: MMS sending stopped working - zetabeta - 05-04-2025 as for generic info. i send some mms messages for testing purposes few months ago. this time i didn't test pinephones, but other things. from my memory. phone number could be blank, it doesn't matter. apn setting works in a cumbersome way. apn need to be set in general mobile data setting, usually it is "mms". of course this disables ordinary internet at that time, hence cumbersome. |
