Pinebook Pro drains ny battery after shutting it off - Tongman - 11-15-2022 Hello, I recently got my PineBook and have managed to flash Tow-Boot on the SPI, flash manjaro on the eMMc and update the touchpad firmware. I shut it down yesterday and had 50% battery left (at least) and today I started it up and the battery was at 0% so it powered off right after getting to the login screen. This has happened every single day since I got the laptop. All the LEDs turn off after shutting it down so it really looks like it is off while obviously it is not. What can I do to solve this? Where do I even start? Thank you very much for any help! It sounds like you may have used "sleep" or "suspend" which don't work very well on the pinebook pro; they barely use less power than having the screen off. So the workaround would be to actually shutdown. If you want to go down a small rabbit hole, there is a way to get suspend to work as expected, but it involves an old kernel. RE: Pinebook Pro drains ny battery after shutting it off - KC9UDX - 11-21-2022 There should be a big disclaimer somewhere that the power lamp is not really an indication of power-on status. I certainly understand why they made the lamp software-controlled. But in practice it sure has been problematic. I power it off, not suspend or hibernate. My current workaround is to hold the power button for like 10 seconds after it shuts down to really make sure it dies. Any idea what I can do to trace down what keeps it running? I soft-bricked the device when I first flashed Manjaro to the emmc but managed to flash tow-boot on the SPI and got it to boot, so currently there is also a uboot on the emmc. Could this have something to do with it? (11-21-2022, 07:01 AM)KC9UDX Wrote: There should be a big disclaimer somewhere that the power lamp is not really an indication of power-on status. So that the user can do with it as you wish. You can turn it off to save power, you can use it as an activity indicator (several distrus do use it as a "hard drive light"), you can do other unforeseen things with it |
