Latest version Arch Plasma looks good. - Chief - 10-21-2022 Considering the issues with Phosh as of recent I have been testing the latest version of Arch Plasma and so far so good. It still has the typical type Plasma bugs here and there but it looks promising. Evolution and Libreoffice work well. The graphic looks good too and is consistent. The favourites screen still doesn't work as favourites disappear after reboot. I have not tested calls as my main focus is PDA related. RE: Latest version Arch Plasma looks good. - zetabeta - 10-21-2022 because i have been in this obsessive bug hunting, i have tested various plasma builds. plasma varies from os to os but starts to be usable in some distributions. fedora plasma seems to mostly work. my testing is quite superficial though. RE: Latest version Arch Plasma looks good. - Chief - 10-21-2022 So you have tried fedora plasma on Pinephone? I'm guessin' that the crashes are related to busted login? This is the case with Arch Plasma right now as I can expect a busted login whenever an HDMI is present. If I use a BT mini keyboard it works perfectly with no HDMI. I can also use full size keyboard / mouse combo with no problems but as soon as HDMI is plugged the screen get messed up quick and then broken login occurs which usually requires a hard boot. On Arch plasma the screen rotation also works well. I see promise in Arch Plasma. Perhaps I will download Fedora and give it a try on my other PP. Edit: I think on my second phone I will try PureOS from Librem. It makes sense as Phosh is also developed by Librem. More to follow. RE: Latest version Arch Plasma looks good. - Chief - 10-23-2022 Latest observations on Arch Linux Plasma: 1. login breaks consistently for no apparent reason. 2. Calls and text appear to work but mobile data must be disabled for text to work. 3. Favourite app main panel does not hold favourite apps after logout or reboot. 4. onscreen keyboard can behave somewhat eratic at times, sometimes there and sometimes not. |
