Screen timeout makes alarm and timer unusable... - Eugo - 09-09-2022

...because the when the time runs out, it doesn't know it when it's suspended. It does tell you when you wake it up... and it was supposed to wake you up.

C'mon guys, this worked on any Nokia twelve years ago. Or probably even before. These two functions should wake up the Pine.

Now I saw what you meant here, and yes, it's there. But it's a separate app which should wake up the phone at a set time. To do so, I guess it uses some API. Well, can't the timer and the SMS app use the same?

IIRC wake-monile is the proof-of-concept by a gnome dev, and the plan is to add a general wake API to gnome for other apps to use, but they haven't got there yet.

Just let the guys know that there's one retired colleague who has trouble typing with fingers crossed... hoping they get it done soon.

On PostmarketOS this is working allready:
https://gitlab.com/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/issues/1170

And I think most of the needed things are all ready done:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-clocks/-/merge_requests/146

So I guess most distros are just waiting that these things will be merged to upstream rather than creating own "duct tape fork"?

Well, perhaps I gave up on pmOs phosh too early. I'm pretty happy with manjaro phosh as it is, but now with winter coming I may have too much time on my hands, so I may give it a try.
