Calls 4G not working - oliwierzgorniak - 07-01-2022

Hi,
I noticed a problem with making calls when mobile service is 4G. When I tried to make a phone call it ended quickly. When I switched to 3G it worked. On my android phone when I was making calls it automatically switched to 3G every time (only during a call). Is is a carrier thing? Maybe It would be nice to add this automatic switching feature like in android devices.

do you have 4g only mode? if so, switching does not work.

in my knowledge switching should work normally on eg25-g modem chip. maybe you should re-initialize volte settings just in case. https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PinePhone#VoLTE

for volte, lot of things could go wrong. device may not have support, carrier does not have support, device may have blacklists for not supporting certain carriers (referring to that android device), or carrier may blacklist devices (particularly in u.s.).

I got the same problem even if I am not in 4G Only mode. Outgoing calls are not working but incoming calls are working because the network switches to 3G during the call.
I am using Mobian with Phosh on the PinePhone and found a workaround by changing the network mode from "2G, 3G, 4G (Preferred)" to "2G, 3G (Preferred)" (this is not a good solution for the long term since 3G will be shut down in the future).
Trying to use VoLTE by following information on https://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/PinePhone#VoLTE did not work (but anyway if it is not working, it should switch to 3G like for incoming calls).
Maybe updating the firmware will fix the issue like someone mentioned here (I am using Free Mobile in France with the default modem firmware EG25GGBR07A08M2G_01.001.01.001):
