pinetab buy and general questions. - gentili - 06-07-2022

hey guys,

so ive been fiddling with the thought oof getting a pinetab for quite some time now.
Do to pine64 not selling pinetabs at the moment i think the next best move of action is to look for a used one.
If anyone is willing to sell there's withjkeyboard (prev. in EU) please PM me.

Second im interested as in how well it performs as an daily driver. Of course do to its hardware limitations only so much can be expected but aside from that how does it handle daily tasks?

best regards and thx for the answers!

Comes down to your daily driver activities. And the OS.

Personally I'm currently running DanctNIX Arch (Phosh). This is what I'll base the answer on.

Performs as well as the original Pinephone (sharing underlying hardware), with bigger touchscreen (longer battery life).

Works well for:
  • Dino (XMPP messenger w/local PGP key + OMEMO key options)
  • Axolotl (Signal clone written in go w/group chats (feedback: this one can be a bit shaky scrolling chat window, but msged video playback is very watchable IMHO)
  • terminal
  • SDR - GQRX runs well using rtl-sdr
  • Some web browsing - smooth scrolling for firefox

Good luck with your find.
