PBP not booting anymore - jsch - 04-18-2022

Hello

I have copied the image (booting form SD, using dd) to the eMMC. The image file is exactly the same as was used to flash the SD card.
After this has been done, the PBP does not boot anymore (neither eMMC, nor SD). The power LED stays amber, nothing happening.
Any hints?

Are you still able to boot from SD?

No, booting from SD is also not possible.
I assume I broke the eMMC (or better it's content). From what I read the images working on a SD do not work on eMMC. I proably have to wait until the eMMC-USB adapter arrives, wipe the first n bytes, and try to boot again.

Err, this is not intrinsically true, I suspect a mismatch between uboot and distro
(I assume that image was written to emmc 'correctly')
Nearly all SD boots are using uboot from emmc, since 1st uboot found is the one used
Test, by removing/disable emmc, see if SD will boot

The eMMC-USB adapter arrived today. I have used dd to write an image (which was classified as an emmc-installer) to eMMC.
Once done, booting (from eMMC and SD) was possible again.

just a friendly note: emmc-installer images are typically meant to be booted from SD and used to install an OS to the emmc. You may be booting up to a TTY guided installation. If you do, wipe the emmc, write the eemc installer img to SD, and then boot to SD and go through the guided installer.
