PinePhone Pro support for AT&T 4G - realrichardsharpe@gmail.com - 03-30-2022

Having just disposed of a couple of phones that only really supported 3G as far as AT&T were concerned (did not support B17, it seems) my question is:

Does the PinePhone Pro really support AT&T?

This seems to be the list of bands it supports for G4:

  • LTE-FDD: B1/ B2/ B3/ B4/ B5/ B7/ B8/ B12/ B13/ B18/ B19/ B20/ B25/ B26/ B28

That does not include B17 which AT&T seems to be sensitive about.

Has anyone tried to connect a PinePhone Pro to AT&T?

I am lightly testing the PinePhone pro with AT&T in Fort Lauderdale, on a regular family plan (not pre-paid). It makes and receives calls and texts, even after AT&T seems to have fully shut down its 3G network. I activated the SIM card in my Samsung Galaxy S10, along with testing LTE before putting it into the PPP. I have heard that is important.
Call quality isn't great, people I call say there's a lot of annoying background noise even when it's quiet where I am. Hopefully some more software updates will help.
Good luck!
