RE: Play Store stops running every time - thehamguy1 - 07-07-2016

I uninstalled the updates and cleared the cache for Google Play Services (but not the data) and I still have the same experience: Play Store stops running before I can do anything useful with it. Glad it worked for you, I must have a truly corked-up version somehow.
At least while I was messing with my Pine today, I learned that the movies I download in MP4 format from archive.org play just fine. They're all public domain films; the newest one I looked at was from 1951. But I'm from before that so its fine by me.
I suppose they play OK because they aren't subject to DRM. Why Google will rent/loan you DRM-encrusted videos and not have their own player, or any other player I've tried on Andoid, be able to show them is beyond nonsense! With a business plan like that it's a wonder they can make payroll.

For me the workaround of just going to
Settings=>accounts=>add account=>google account

It will verify your account setting before adding the new Google account. Just cancel or exit the screen and goto Google play. Should be working fine for a while before it happens again or you reboot.

Total time for workaround is about 30secs.

Also after updating play services I had to clear cache on play services and the playstore and reboot. Then relaunch.

I've given up on the play store. I found a site called APK pure where you can get almost any app in the play store as an apk. I've just been adding them by a flash drive and it all works just as well.

Why? Google's a shitty company that's becoming increasingly restrictive with their operating systems. Any way to get around Google's bullshit is a plus to me. I've actually been thinking about scrapping the OS and going with Linux or something so I don't have to link my Google account, effectively telling Google everything I'm doing at all times.

While not using the playstore is a option. Its a limited option. You can not make purchases or In app purchases and obtaining purchased apps can be risky installing a modded apk for install(trust me i know, i would definitely decompile the apk and dex file and check the code because its very easy to inject code into it, unless you dont care about your security).

Actually, that might be a fun project. Making a fully automated security linux os with built-in tor, dns server/filtering,  private browser and encrypted os.
