UBports CE pinephone, keyboard does not work - alladin - 01-25-2022

Hi Everyone

Today I got the keyboard delivered, but I cannot make it to work.

1. I see in many places to press the button on the keyboard (dis-attached from the phone), to turn it on/off, does it have any indicator light to show its status?
2. How to test if keyboard unit is working on it's own?

And I do not know if this is relevant, I'm an owner of a ubports CE version, but I installed PostmarketOS on it.

If you look on the order page foer the Keyboard in the store, it says:

PLEASE NOTE
  • Not all mobile OSes support the keyboard case. At launch the keyboard is supported by: postmarketOS, Manjaro Linux, DanctNIX (Arch Linux) and Mobian.

Is the installed version of PostmarketOS up to date?

You might also try to compile the user land driver: https://xff.cz/git/pinephone-keyboard/about/ and run it on the phone?
(its quite small and the phone quickly compiles it)

Yes, it is a pitty, that the PinePhone keyboard does not work yet with Ubports. I usually don t code, as you can see on my GITHUB page:

https://github.com/PeterGamma

I am convinced there are people which can write a Ubports driver for the keyboard much easier than I do (lack of time, lack of patience). But I think it is worth to buy the keyboard only for the power bank purpose. I paired instead a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard to my Ubports PinePhone.

They keyboard is great. I tested it and it worked on Postmarket OS. But I miss a mouse. So I will probably add a Bluetooth mouse also to the PinePhone keyboard.

If someone writes a Ubports PinePhone driver for the PinePhone keyboard, let me know. I am happy to debug an review it.
