Will there ever be Libre KiCAD files for the pinephone? - kreyren - 12-31-2021

I am political activist so having a secure and privacy respecting phone is critical for me where I am concerned about:
a) The modem backdoor mentioned in https://www.pine64.org/2020/01/24/setting-the-record-straight-pinephone-misconceptions/

> The LTE modem on the PinePhone is a ‘black box’, and runs its own Linux system internally. This includes all the proprietary modules (blobs) needed to run the actual cellular radios.

So preferably i want to review the routes and change the design as needed.

b) Supply chain attack

-> i want to fabricate the PCB myself.

+ I am Free Software/Hardware developer so i want to have the option to learn how it works, use, share and improve it.

While I'd love to be wrong, I'd go with 'unlikely' for KiCAD files (or whatever EDA package they're using) or gerbers. They haven't been released for any of their other products so far as I know.

On the modem side there's biktorgj's replacement firmware which replaces Quectel's linux part. It still requires Qualcomm's blobs, but it should make it clearer how much the Qualcomm part can be isolated from the rest of the system.
