Why is sshd installed/listening by default - insidetrip101 - 11-14-2021

I just recently got my pinephone, and it came with manjaro installed on it. I find it strange that I've found that openssh is even installed by default, but honestly it fosters a lot of mistrust by virtue of the fact that its configured to listen for connections.
I've even managed to log into it using the required numeric only password.
This is an enormous flaw and is absolutely ridiculous that this distribution would ship like this. What on earth were they thinking? This is a flaw that would be just unbelievably easy to attack.
Thanks but no thanks, I don't understand how you could create a distribution with this level of incompetence.
