Anyone have any idea what the "adaptive apps" button is for. I'm at a loss.

If it's the bit I think it is, it's about whether or not the launcher only shows icons for apps whose .desktop file says they're adaptive, meaning that they ought to work reasonably on a phone rather than a desktop.
