has there been any testing to determine average boot up times in Linux and android?

The current boot time for Android Loliipop 5.1.1 build is around 40 seconds and plan on reduce down to 25-30 seconds.  For Linux, this highly depends on the build and what type of drivers to bring up, light build should able to boot up on few seconds. In general, Android build is "thicker" than Linux.

I guess android wouldn't work for me.  I was able to get my galaxy tab 7 down to 19 seconds boot up time in Android (cyanogen mod).  Still not acceptable.  There was a demo back in 2011 from linutronix that showed a Qt-based app that cold booted up in under 2 seconds.  Using ARM9 AT91SAM9G45 @400MHz.  Your product has much more power.   Check it out:

I'd want this most "slim" linux version to run.
