Pinetime not charging/switching on anymore - crashingdutchman - 09-02-2021

I have a dev version of the PineTime and after not using it for some time it is not switching on anymore. Maybe it is not charging either. 

Are there any things I can try before buying another one?

If you are 100% sure it is fully connected to the charger (those springs on the back of the case are relatively strong and one can lift the back away from the other if you are using a tape or a weak glue) then the next step would be to check the battery and regulator voltages with a multimeter.

Battery is easy since the pads are pretty obvious (expect ~3.7v), you can check the regulator voltage by testing the GND and 3V3 from the SWD connector (see https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PineTime_Devkit_Wiring ).

That doesn't sound great. Certainly sounds like something is broken.

Only other interesting experiment I can think of is to see if the battery (or 5v supply) voltage changes when 5v is applied to the charging pads (e.g. does the charger circuit work or has the battery failed) however it can physically tricky since it's only an easy test if you possess four hands.

An easier, but destructive, alternative might be to desolder one of the battery leads and see if the screen can fire up with the battery disconnected. That would prove whether the problem is battery or charger (and if it is the battery then you do, at least, have a battery-less watch to use as a development/test device if you want to).
