Pure Maps GPS on Pinephone Mobian - godzillest - 07-26-2021 OSM Scout Server and Pure Maps were pretty easy to install via flathub. Just open the links in a browser, tap install and open with the software app. It takes a while, but works a charm. OSM Scout Server for offline maps: https://www.flathub.org/apps/details/io.github.rinigus.OSMScoutServer Pure Maps navigation and maps UI: https://www.flathub.org/apps/details/io.github.rinigus.PureMaps My issue is that I can't seem to get Pure Maps to use my GPS data. It has Online, Offline, and Mixed profiles. Ideally I would completely avoid using network location tracking and only use the GPS. This is both for privacy reasons but also because the VPN on my phone throws the network tracking completely off. I tried digging around to see if there was something I had to configure on the modem or some such, but I don't know very much about it and couldn't find any straight forward manner of getting the GPS working with Pure Maps or even gnome maps. I am open to using a different interface for navigation. If someone has the GPS working with a different application, I'm willing to switch. RE: Pure Maps GPS on Pinephone Mobian - bcnaz - 08-02-2021 Hopefully the 'Pure' maps will eventually work on the Mobian Pine phones... All the other GPS app's rely on Geo-locate, which is based on using Google support. No Mozilla geolocation option by playing with .conf files? RE: Pure Maps GPS on Pinephone Mobian - mouffa - 08-03-2021 getting location data from the GPS is very difficult, you have to wait, be in open space and be lucky, they say that it has to do with the small antenna and they connect an external antenna with an amplifier, have a look at this thread to understand what happens with GPS https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=14114 |
