How to install a Whatsapp client on Pinephone w/ Manjaro? - danimations - 06-23-2021

Fellow Pinphoners!

I'm an "enthusiast" grade user and need some advice. I'm running the latest Beta edition of Manjaro ARM with Phosh and I need to install a Whatsapp client on it. Has anyone here done this successfully? Any pointers or better would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Since writing I found this, but the commands aren't suitable for Arch Linux. Can someone please help me with the appropriate commands for installation, if it's possible? Many thanks.

My best advise would be to not use WhatsApp and anything Fakebook altogether for all sorts of reasons, but your device; your choice.
You'll only be able to run something compiled for ARM (or open source software that can be compiled to ARM).
The app seems to be open source, but as far as I experienced, Electron can be pretty anal on Phosh and PlaMo at the moment.

Another way around is to have a burner Android phone for just that, assuming you never need to chat outside of your home.
