Good calculator on the Linux Phone? And general lack of mobile responsive apps - programmin - 05-05-2021
Greetings all,
I have been trying out the Linux phone I got recently (Librem 5) and noticed that generally apps are not so ready for the small screen...
I wonder if others using other Linux os's on Pinephone have noticed a similar problem or have any good workarounds?
As an example, there are several good Android calculators (Arity, open source on FDroid is my go to)
but on mobile Linux the most awesome calculators are bloaty or cut off on the small screen and don't work so well...

Also, contribute to update existing apps responsibe (libhandy from Purism should help), or make new apps..

There is an HP calculator emulator called Free42. I don't know how to use RPN calculators, but it fits on the screen when displayed vertically. Another interesting option is TiLem which is a TI calculator emulator. I have not yet tested TiLem because it requires non-free firmware.

Free42 doesn't provide an arm pc build even: "It should work on any Linux (x86_64)..." on their downloads section.
This seems to be a common issue and problem with Linux on phones and at best this would be a non native emulator - not sure about the sizing, yeah.

I don't know any other distros, but at least Debian has packages for many architectures including arm64. What I did is just `apt install free42-nologo` on my mobian PinePhone.
