Hello everybody,

You can add my case to this thread as well.
I'm having the PinePhone KDE Plasma Mobile CE.
My problem started appearing approx. 1,5 month ago, without a real obvious reason.
I'm using the PinePhone as a daily driver already for approx. 4-5 months, usually running Manjaro ARM Phosh Developer image (Daily updated).
The phone has always been carried around in the official PinePhone soft TPU protective case, and has always had a gorilla glass hard screen protector on top of the screen.
I just applied a support ticket, and now start waiting I guess.

Kind regards,

Jasper

Hello Jasper,

You are welcome in this very confidential club, so confidential that even Pine64 is ignorant of the existence of this club Angel

The Mobian distribution wasn't use in this case, as it was supposed to be an possible origin. To limit the problem at the usage of only one distribution is not possible : a hardware problem is present.

short version:
pinephone is 3GB/32GB variant, originally 1.2a, modified into 1.2b
touchscreen works only partially, practically broken, screen works.
usb docking dongle NOT included (costs extra ~+15€)
postal fees around ~25€ (may vary)

serious disclaimers:
because of my soldering, i do not guarantee full hardware functioning. but you get the phone though. (i recently used for two days continuously)
no paypal, (in that case, i keep my spare parts)
mostly e.u. only. (other countries, i do not guarantee anything, particularly postal delivery and customs)

send offers with pm or i can be found on matrix with obvious nickname and obvious channel.

Just for the record: It happened to my PP as well, starting only a few weeks after I had bought it.

I ordered a new LCD panel (along with a second Pinephone) so I could replace the screen when it would become unusable.

That never happened: After some time the unwanted ornaments stopped spreading -- now, one year later, they form a frame that is between 1 and 4 Millimeters wide (a little narrower than zetabeta's pictured above).

Even though that's annoying, it's mostly a cosmetic issue: The marks are not really visible when one uses the phone because they are hardly discernible when the screen is bright.

That said, I still don't think it's OK to sell such stuff and not replace it.

Thanks for sharing, Anna. Until now, we've assumed that the issue was caused by a bad batch of screens around the time of Manjaro and KDE Community Editions. When did you purchase your phone? Was it recently, i.e. Beta Edition hardware?

Please open a ticket under support.pine64.org, "and not replace it" sounds like an assumption to me.
