Kdenlive or other video editing software?? - SuttonWillow - 03-26-2021

I'm tempted to get a PineBook Pro once the new batch goes up for sale and I'm curious, can the PineBook Pro do some light video editing? I'll be coming over from a ThinkPad X220 and on that machine I'd sometimes do some light editing, stuff like putting a few video clips together and maybe adding some light effects all while using proxy clips in Kdenlive. Is the Pinebook Pro capable of doing that? If not it's not a deal breaker I'm just curiousĀ essay writer

One man's "light" is another man's "heavy". Or vice versa.

I've done some basic processing using avidemux - e.g. cutting video in chunks, re-encoding it to smaller resolution. It wasn't fast, but it got the job done.

I haven't used Kdenlive, but I have used Openshot on the Pinebook Pro.
Light editing of 1080p videos is possible, but the preview/monitor will lag like crazy.
It is possible, but it won't be fun.

Once we get proper hardware video codec support, things should improve a lot.

I got my PineBook Pro the other day coming over from an X220 too, you can indeed do some light editing if you're willing to use proxy clips and turn down the preview quality, it's not the best experience in the world but it's certainly doable

I choose Kdenlive.
