Will It Be Okay To Order The PineBook Pro US Version For Use In The UK? - ImmyChan - 03-15-2021

Hi

Is it okay to order the US version of the PineBook Pro for use in the UK? The different keyboard layout doesn't bother me, I just wanted to know if there's anything else I should be aware of? For instance maybe voltage issues?

Thanks

The only issue you might experience in the UK is being unable to use the DC adapter without a wall plug adapter.  The shipped DC adapter actually supports interchangeable wall plugs, but gets shipped with only one wall plug.

But it can still charge through USB-C though?

Yes, it can, although there are some issues with the amount of power the PineBook Pro is capable of taking from any of its two power inputs (the barrel jack and the USB Type-C port).  Please, have a look at this thread as well.

My ANSI PBP came with a UK and a US plug. I can't be certain, but I think both of the ones I bought did. So you might get the correct plug anyway. If not, it should be easy to get one.

That's interesting.  My ANSI variant of the PineBook Pro came with an EU plug only.

I thought it was strange. I might have saved the second one just because I hate to throw things like that out, but there's zero chance of me ever needing it.

Quite frankly, one of the very few things I have really no regrets about throwing into garbage is a UK wall plug adapter or a UK wall wart. Big Grin  No offense to anyone, it's just that I absolutely don't need them and they take up a lot of space.
