1U Rackmount Case for ROCKPro64 - tuaris - 02-18-2021 I like the current Metal Desktop/NAS Casing that's available, but it would be nice to have a 1U rack mount variant of it. Does anyone know of an online retailer that would be willing to design custom casing? or is this something Pine64 themselves can do? RE: 1U Rackmount Case for ROCKPro64 - TRS-80 - 02-18-2021 Are you looking to actually fit into a rack? Or you just don't have any other better ideas? ![]() I say that because I have been playing with SBC for a few years now, and have accumulated some number of them. And so I keep thinking about cases for all this time (on and off). About modifying existing ones, or this, or that... Well, lately I start to think maybe it's just better to put together my own case out of some of this extruded aluminum T-slot that has become so popular in the last several years. This way I can make it however I like. And I can add to / change it later. So in the future, this is a direction I expect I will be exploring even more. But maybe you actually need a rackmount chassis for some reason. In which case, I think almost any would do? I dunno though. And you may have to drill some holes. The height (including heat sink) would be the main thing, I guess? Yes, the desktop version of the case is a little more than 2U in height and half the width of a standard rack. It's an awkward fit. The other casing options (like the aluminum enclosure) aren't as elegant since they don't allow you to keep the other components (SDD/HDD, PCIe card, power) self contained. I could try looking for a generic small form factor rack mount case and try to adapt it, but I've never had much luck doing things that way. RE: 1U Rackmount Case for ROCKPro64 - TRS-80 - 02-18-2021 I just came across the following thread: NAS/fileserver project—RP64 in 1U ATX/ITX case (comments welcome!)
