Is there an official ICM (color management) file for the PBP? - ab1jx - 02-10-2021

An ICM file can be a simple lookup table or an algorithm.  They're used for correcting colors, in this case of the display, so if you're going to be editing photographs the display is accurate.  I've used them with xcalib before on other computers quite successfully.

I do have an old Color Munki which I've never used under Linux so maybe I could make one.  They're usually supplied by a display manufacturer.  The colors seem pretty good but a human eye isn't a reliable judge.

There isn't an official one for the PBP. The panel used is the BOE NV140FHM-N49. You might be able to find a color profile for that (or a similar enough model).

Thanks, there are some for sale ($5) at
https://laptopmedia.com/screen/boe-nv140fhm-n49/
which I would assume there are licensing restrictions against posting since they're selling them so I'll keep looking.  This makes it a last resort.

BOE website (US English version) https://boe.com.cn/en/USA Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BOE_Technology

But I haven't found any free profiles which would fit in the FOSS world. When you buy a Dell monitor it comes with a mini-CD with drivers and profile, you can download them free. I'll look a little more.

OK, thanks, I made a comment there. I found no mention of ICM in the wiki and it's too short to use as a search term. It's good enough for now the way it is I guess. The official reasoning is that there's too much variation from panel to panel to make it worthwhile.
