Modem stops working after CRUST - Trbl - 11-20-2020

I've done some exhaustive testing with multiple different distributions (Manjaro, UbTouch, SXMO, Pure) on my new Manjaro CE PinePhone, and no matter what, after some time, the 4G stops working completely after unlocking the screen until i reboot the phone. I've also updated the modem firmware from the sticky post in your forums but that didn't change anything either. I've been getting conflicting information on matrix/google. Most people say they don't have those issues or very infrequently, for me its constantly doing that and I feel like I spend most of the time rebooting my phone to get it to work again briefly.

Support was unhelpful as f***, made me doubt they even read the damn ticket and really pisses me off...

Quote:We suspect that the OS build not been flashed correctly at the factory. Please try re-flash the New image OS as below step.

Instructions on how to re-flash the OS image can be found here:

The newest Manjaro Phosh build is available to download from here:

Thank you.

Is this a hardware defect? Do I have to bother with the ticket support?

This is a known issue with most of the distros that are using CRUST. It is logged in a number of distro issue trackers too. It doesn't appear to be a hardware issue, but I'm not sure who (if anyone) is currently working on it anywhere. But fwiw, I experience that on distros that use CRUST as well.

I remember reading on here someone with a similar sounding problem.  The workaround was to wait on the lock screen for the mobile signal to be showing some signal strength prior to unlocking.  If they didn't wait, the signal never returned without a reboot.  Not the best workaround ever, but less painful than lots of reboots.  I'll try to find the post.

If it is the same issue i've been having on my braveheart, mobile data stops working, there is workaround for it: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=12279
I have been trying this on mobian and arch and it does work.

However, i decided to try PostmarketOS phosh after not trying it for quite long time because it had bad battery life previously, now it does have pretty good battery life and its looking like this issue does not happen at all. I dont know what they did differently but what i noticed is that modem does not get redetected after sleep like it does on other distros that have the issue.
