PinePhone already setup? - zdunn - 11-14-2020

Hi,

I just received my PinePhone and I'm very excited to try it out! But after removing the tap between the battery and connector and booting up for the first time, I was taken to a lock screen. Swiping up takes me to a screen for entering a passcode. I was not taken through a first-run setup to create a user and I don't know what passcode I'm supposed to use.

Did I miss some communication about the phones being preset up and having a default code or do I need to reset the phone somehow? If so, any advice on how to do that would be appreciated.

Hi, I had a similar experience -
after it started up did the navigation buttons appear or did you have to update or do something to get them to appear?

I have just got my Pinephone Beta Edition and it has taken me through creation of user etc.  Now it asks for a PIN and 123456 does not work.  How do I progress?
Thanks

I can now answer my own question...
On initial boot, I am asked to create a user with a password.  I did just that.  It then wouldn't let me continue until I entered a PIN.  It was only when I booted from an SD card image and repeated the process that I realised that Password and PIN were the same thing and that I should only have entered digits (numbers) originally (yes. It does tell you first time around).  Since my password happened to contain numbers I could unlock by just entering those.
Now happily playing
