Screen going black - Wesleypjones - 05-29-2016

I have encountered a new issue.  Every so often my pine will crash to a near black screen.  The lights are all still on but I can't get a response to anything I try.   It happens often while streaming video on kodi.  Sometimes it just happens when I am not running any programs.  Any suggestions as to what might be the issue?

Two things come to mind: 1) PSU / AWG of cable 2) Faulty SD card

A little bit more info about the two above would help

Same problem here with the latest release.

1) Fresh install done 30min ago
2) PSU that came with my Pine
3) Samsung EVO plus 64GB micro SD
4) WiFi module that came with my Pine

Everything is new and tested.

Sorry for the delayed response.  Had a busy week.  My sd card should be good.  It is a 64gb sandisk class 10 that I bought from Costco.  For power supply,  I am using the charger from my Samsung Galaxy note 10.1 tablet. It is 5.3V 2.0A. I understand that it is recommended to have 2.4A but I remember reading that 2.0A should be fine.  The pine is not shutting down, all the lights are all on it just goes black and freezes.

Sounds like a power issue to me.

If you could check that AWG of the cable and get back to me, that would be great. I personally had issues with a 28 AWG cable - exchanged that for 20AWG and havent had a single problem since then.

RE: Screen going black - Wesleypjones - 06-06-2016

Here is what it says on the cable.
AWM 21445  80°C 30V VW-1 RFT (s)  HX NT non-pvc non-p
This doesn't mean a whole lot to me but from my Google research it seems as though the cable should support 2.1 amps.  So unless the cable has degraded it should be fine.

RE: Screen going black - Gauloises - 06-16-2016

I have the same issue, my SD card is 100% NOT faulty and my usb wire is 20awg used for charging ecigarettes so certainly works for high powered devices
