My Daily QA - 2020-08-27 - AmazingNutria - 08-27-2020

Be aware, these tests are being executed using an out-of-box testing methodology. All tests are preformed with minimal interaction/setup of devices outside of: OS imaging/updating,  SIM installation, Wifi Configuration,  and Power Cycling the devices.

Results: mobian/2020-08-27-Verizon.html
              mobian/2020-08-27-TMobile.html

[b]Conclusion: OS is not Ready for pinephone to be daily driver.

Notes: Today was an interesting testing day. MMS is still not working. The camera is still lagging. Call quality varied between TMobile and Verizon. Call quality of the microphone on TMobile was great. Clear, no echo, no problems. Call quality of the microphone on Verizon is very sensitive. Louder then necessary. It made the call experience very poor.

Thanks for doing these tests!

I'm wondering about the camera getting a PASS. Is it really usable for taking still images? Things like the image being the right way up (in both portrait and landscape mode) and a reasonable framerate, focusing working etc are "rather" important IMO?

Maybe add another test for the camera application? (And maybe remove the current "is the camera hardware working at all" test?)

This is a great point. The original test was created when the camera driver was still in development. So getting the camera to work at all was a huge improvement. We will be adding more tests soon (for things like quality of camera/ touch response of UI/ Load time of applications/ etc) We will build the tests along side the development of the OS so we can have small benchmarks "We" as consumers can check off

Just a comment :
As far as having both 3g and 4g capability, that would seem to be helpful, some areas may not have 4g, and even if both are available from the same tower,
if all the 4g repeaters are used/busy in a congested area, it may prove useful to be able to "fall-back" to the 3g... ?
4g may be considered "better" but when using just voice, there is probably no noticeable difference.
