Alternative phone call apps? - Subsentient - 07-20-2020 So I've been using Purism's "Calls" app since I got my PinePhone, but it's honestly quite buggy and irritating, I'd like to use something else. Problem is, I'm on X11 and Fedora, so I can't just use UBPort's stuff I assume since it's more Ubuntu specific. Is there anything else that can make calls, preferably through ModemManager, from a generic Xorg distro? I can't find any good working alternatives. I can compile it myself, just need to find some completed code. RE: Alternative phone call apps? - Subsentient - 07-24-2020 Guess I'll have to write it myself. No free time though. See you all in 2074 when I have a semi-functional git build working :^) RE: Alternative phone call apps? - Juergen - 07-26-2020 (07-20-2020, 03:18 PM)Subsentient Wrote: So I've been using Purism's "Calls" app since I got my PinePhone, but it's honestly quite buggy and irritating, I'd like to use something else. Megous is developing a calling app. https://xnux.eu/ui/voice-calls-app.html RE: Alternative phone call apps? - Boern - 07-26-2020 Shouldn't plasma mobile have a working calls app? RE: Alternative phone call apps? - wibble - 07-27-2020 Plasma mobile does have one, but it uses oFono not ModemManager, while it looks like Megous will be using raw AT commands. This means they're not exactly interchangeable. They probably also have different ideas about phonebook storage per the usual kde/gnome splits. It looks like they at least agree on pulseaudio for managing the audio side. I've not looked at what Maemo, Mer etc. are using, and it seems like freesmartphone.org APIs have been abandoned. RE: Alternative phone call apps? - Dmytro - 07-30-2020 If it is not too late check SXMO whole call functionality is sh based using mmcli. |
