Flashing display on Community Ed - dr.diesel - 06-09-2020 I just received my Community Ed Pinephone and instantly noticed the severe flashing of the display. In searching I found the Quirks note here: https://wiki.pine64.org/index.php?title=PinePhone_v1.2 Except that mine flashes on all brightness levels except for between 90-100%, automatic brightness off. I've updated to the development Ubuntu Touch v44 just to see if any software fix was available, however no change. The flashing diminishes as as the brightness level approaches ~90%, but is still visible on any setting below. Is this truly the case with the known hardware issue or is mine just more severe? RE: Flashing display on Community Ed - sladew - 06-10-2020 Hi, I just received my UBPorts PinePhone and now me too! This wasn't a noticeable problem on first boot and installation. I think my display flashing started after I inserted the USB-C charger to charge the battery to 100% and then restarted after a UBPorts update. The display began to flash constantly, regardless of whether running on the charger or unplugging and returning to battery. I powered the phone down and powered on the phone without the charger attached and now the display is no longer flashing. Hopefully that might be a way of resolving a flashing display. Slade. RE: Flashing display on Community Ed - dr.diesel - 06-10-2020 You are correct, not sure what I did, but as of this moment it is not flashing, aside from a very slight amount at the lowest brightness setting which isn't an issue. I will attempt to be more observant with it in the future and track down the exact cause. Thanks RE: Flashing display on Community Ed - sladew - 06-11-2020 Hi, Following on there are a couple of UBPorts issues that mention this flickering display issue: https://github.com/ubports/ubuntu-touch/issues/1473 |
