RE: Bookworm - Zebulon Walton - 09-25-2021 Carrying the phone around with the keyboard attached could also be awkward, wonder if it will fit in my holster that way? RE: Bookworm - wibble - 09-25-2021 If there are still any of the old Psion 5 holsters around they might work well. Or see what people were doing with the Planet Computers devices. I suspect a bluetooth headset will be much more practical than trying to use it as a handset. I am super excited for the keyboard because I think the extra battery life will be huge. You will definitely look super awkward taking calls though, luckily I rarely take any haha. I could imagine that integration would be fairly straight forward? Maybe I'm wrong but I have high hopes that it would work out the box without problems. RE: Bookworm - bcnaz - 09-25-2021 I am on Sept. 25 nightly release now. Manjaro convergent phone running from an sd card. Only thing I have found not working is the hot spot, but I think that is an issue with my carrier. The data is obviously working. But the darn screen is hard to read, the fonts are so small. Another release that works, Directly "Out of the Box" No fixing needed.. :-) RE: Bookworm - lasde - 09-28-2021 hi I have issue with mobian, the modem would die (asking pin) if I leave the phone charging and not touching it, it does not happen when on battery, I have the installed the latest firmware for the modem but it did not solve the issue RE: Bookworm - TRS-80 - 09-28-2021 (09-25-2021, 09:31 AM)wibble Wrote: I suspect a bluetooth headset will be much more practical than trying to use it as a handset. It will be, eventually, unfortunately (last I checked at least) Bluetooth Hands Free Profile was not supported at all. Although, I actually came here to ask about this as well. I have not upgrade to Bookworm yet, for those that have, are modem monitoring scripts still needed? Or does that take care of itself now? RE: Bookworm - bcnaz - 09-28-2021 I have the Bookworm September 28 nightly on sd card running on a Manjaro Convergent phone. I simply downloaded the newest release, flashed to a sd card, and put the card into the phone, .... just the regular fill-in the blanks stuff that is always needed with a fresh installation. Out of the Box it does calls, sms text, wifi, cellular data... I did do the software store system updates before trying any functions. <( In the initial updates, I did see some "firmware updates" but there were not any descriptions of what firmware, ... that I saw.)> *** The above phone I use exclusively for testing new releases, if it does happen to fail, it is not a tragedy. My D.D. phone has an early bookworm release plus daily updates, running quite dependably. RE: Bookworm - bcnaz - 09-29-2021 September 29 Nightly release, the basic functions are working, including initial updates via on board software store. I tried connecting my bluetooth headset just a few days ago and it still just outputs static when it connects. RE: Bookworm - lsitongia - 09-29-2021 Bluetooth is hit-or-miss for me. I have an old Plantronics one-ear piece that works well, but breaks up when it is more than four feet from the phone. I have a two year old JLAB headset that doesn't work at all - it pairs but will not connect. I have a new Soundcore headset that breaks up only after about 30 feet between them. None of them work for controlling the phone from the headset, if that's what hands free means. |
