In our own lab, the Gbit seems works fine and we are that users seems getting no good results. Hopefully, the new PHY driver integration will able to resolve this outstanding issue. This takes 2-3 week for release. I guess you already made the same discoverys as I did regarding the Android + Ethernet issues, but i still want to point out to the Thread i opened up to show what I managed to discover myself http://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=1358 Basic conclusion: - The ethernet will not work without the WiFi module attached even though it's not turned on. It might work for 1-3 seconds and get the Time from an NTP server but after that you are lucky if u get even one second of connectivity. - If the WiFi module is attached the ethernet works fine but as everybody already mentioned in 100mbit. - It looks like if WiFi module is not attached the Pine is still looking for it trying to initialise it. RE: Android and Ethernet - curiousgally - 07-02-2016 I had the same issue on the first boot. After restarting ethernet worked fine but its too slow..downloading youtube app from playstore took more than 10 mints..so wondering if this is the current state of things wrt ethernet on android or its only happening with my device. I dont have Wifi+BT module and dont have Gigabit on my router, just 75 Mbps. I downloaded the android image from the wiki. Thanks. Yeah appearently additional issues occur when the Ethernet connection has the choice between gigabit and mbit connection. Some people already told me to slow down the connected port. Haven't tried it yet. RE: Android and Ethernet - anarchyuk - 07-05-2016 Hey everyone, i have the 2gb model and the only way i have been able to get ethernet working is by routing it through 2 power line adapters with 100 ports.. Im pretty certain its the gigabit issue people have mentioned but my router doesnt have the option to drop down to 100 mode. I can also use a cheap usb to ethernet adapter but it operates at 6mbit which is terrible as it averages 70kbs Hope this gets fixed soon RE: Android and Ethernet - Absum - 07-07-2016 Issues here with Android and Ethernet on my 2gb Pine64 as well. Sometimes I get very slow internet and sometimes I don't get any connection at all. Some apps also don't recognize the Ethernet connection as an internet connection and don't want to use it. They rely on wifi. Any solutions yet? In the mean time, I've ordered an extra SDHC micro SD card and I'm gonna play around with other OS's to get it to work. |
