Please contact with Kodi

Pine A64 can play 4K video in under native player. It is no hard for someone to "hack" the kodi media player and route to native play back. However, by doing so, that Kodi will become customize version.

You mean native player is e.g ( MX player ) , can hardware player 4k30p? , i not use remote just use mouse , the setting can use mouse ? And Can you talk me what MX Player use Coder for this PINE64 or only use MX Player is ok ? Thank !

MX player use native decoder and this means can play hardware 4Kp30 HEVC clip. You can use mouse.

We are still tuning on native playback. No update on Kodi front.

Does the pine64 support dts and dolby passthrough through kodi?

I'd love to know this as well, currently the raspberry pi 2 doesn't which is its biggest issue(alongside h265 support) with kodi.

Im hoping that the HW and Cpu would be strong enough to do so with pine a64, anyone know if this possible?

p.s this is great seeing kodi running, cant wait for my order to come through!! great work Smile
Cheers
Nick

Want to know about this as well, if so I can replace my main HTPC. It's an OLD Core2Duo and 2GB of ram and an ATI 9600 Big Grin

RE: Kodi on Android - dkuhl0904 - 02-08-2016

Hi @ll,

really disappoints me, what I read about Kodi Support.
It was and is my highest prio to use the PINE64 as a Mediacenter Device.
In my living room, I have a NVIDIA Shield Android TV Box, which is absolutely great - and looking on the Kodi Android Hardware page - Kodi is fully supported and works with all type and kind of video.
The Allwinner A64 SoC is listed with questionmarks only - four times in the row.
Not saying it won´t work - but at least not supporting the hardware directly for e.g. HW decoding.
If that is the case, the PINE64 would be really useless for me, as I wanted to build a simple Android TV device for my office & guest room TV.

So really, it would be great if you can get in touch with the Kodi team to support them with Allwinner A64 HW support - or work on the HW implementation into Kodi yourself.
As it is an open source project, everything is open and available for own adaptions.

To really make the PINE64 board famous and successful: It needs a full Kodi support.

Many thanks and best regards

greetings from Frankfurt/Germany
