if you would be locally (physically) nearby, let's look at it. knowing what is ahead, i think best course of action is to reinstall, and temporarily i suggest other than mobian.

however:
does it boot somewhere? so you can get virtual console, i.e. ctrl-alt-f3. (usb dongle and keyboaard is required)
does it get a internet through wifi? internet is not dependent on gui.
you probably do not have sshd installed, which can be used for remote management.

software "aptitude" helps, but you still need to know some thing about packages and their dependencies.

I'm trying to reinstall Mobian from the installer released at March 3rd 2024 but I get an error message "Is host ready?" when I boot Sad

P.S: I'm trying to use the more recent image suggested by Walter...
P.S: The image suggested by Walter works but I need a working installer as I use full disk encryption, I want to install the system on the EMMC, Tow-Boot is already installed.
P.S: The installer works now.
P.S: I've succeeded in reinstalling everything but I'll wait some days before updating and upgrading.

Hello

I had to modify the modem rule and to disable the power saving mode as usual. Then, I had to set the Mic 1 and 2 boosts to zero to get rid of the crappy sound during calls. Neither the QR scanner nor the alarm work.

When will it be "safe" anew to update and upgrade on Mobian Trixie? I need to install a library to fix the QR scanner and nemo.

i installed version "da4f550c910aa4fa8d8922cfa9676f00a30c49d0dda1f2cb0febaae95971876b  mobian-installer-sunxi-phosh-20240303.img.xz" on a pinephone regular, and using full disk encryption into emmc storage. it went fine. installation of tow-boot may be required afterwards depending on a case.

i try to give instructions how to proceed afterwards. at least disable automatic updates in software "software".

i mange to do "dist-upgrade" without a big hassle. using "aptitude" might be more problematic, but there is resolver which helps.

i recommend manual updates for software "software", i would recommend that anyway for beta software.

temporarily disable suspend (sleep) when updating. i also recommend software "screen" or "tmux" for apt-get or aptitude, if possible.

still:
read before hitting "yes".
"apt-get upgrade" is safer than "apt-get dist-upgrade".
"aptitude" has resolver, which may help.

For what it's worth, I upgraded yesterday to current Trixie from Feb 22 2024 Trixie. All core functionality seems okay: send & receive calls, SMS, MMS, & email. I haven't tested bluetooth. Video (mpv) and music (lollypop) work. Firefox works. The wireplumber bug that blocks switching audio from earpiece to speaker after a phone call is still there but it might be fixed by the soon?-to-hit-Trixie v5.2. The 64-bit time transition has affected a huge number of packages but that is about 99% complete.

Thank you for the feedback. I'll probably retry to upgrade Saturday or Sunday. I noticed the nasty bug you mentioned Wink

wireplumber 0.5.2 has rolled into Trixie and it does fix that issue.

In the process of testing it I found another, related, issue that I'll post about shortly.  I think it is not a newly-introduced issue.

I still have no sound with gnome-clocks, it's annoying.

Someone who uses a Pinephone Pro daily told me a few days ago that he has been able to send and receive MMS flawlessly for months despite the use of multiple APNs. Is it possible with Trixie but on a Pinephone (i.e not a Pinephone Pro) too?
